A successful recording studio in Freemans Bay– Auckland, required the use of an acoustically rated floor in one of their studios. Due to the range of frequencies blasted through the speakers in this particular recording room, concern was raised about the transfer of impact and airborne noise to another studio situated directly below. After a cheaper alternative (acoustic matting) was used to overcome this noise issue, they opted to replace this for the acoustically certified Batten and Cradle Flooring System – much to their quiet satisfaction!

Batten & Cradle was recently installed in a Video Teleconferencing Centre for one of NZ's major banking institutions in the ANZ Centre, Auckland CBD. Teleconferencing rooms require a high degree of acoustic soundproofing.

Batten & Cradle was specified by one of the leading acoustic engineers in New Zealand. The flooring system along with ceilings and walls were required to meet specific design criteria. Sound insulation background noise level and reverberation time measurements were tested. The results of the testing featured in "Sigao" - Batten and Cradle’s First Quarterly Newsletter. When the Auckland University were looking for a new floor for their Drama School, they chose Batten and Cradle due to the simple solution of minimising noise, providing flexibility, installation of services under the floor, as well, to counteract harmful heel shock which is very common.

The biggest factor they required was the ability for the floor to be moved and reinstalled to a new location at a future date.

The 110m2 project had a scheduled program of four days for installation and was completed in the designated timeframe to the highest satisfaction.

August 30- 31st 2010- Auckland Convention Centre, The Edge, Auckland Town Hall & Aotea Square hosted the ISSA 2010 International Symposium on Sustainability in Acoustics. All industry professionals who visited our display, were impressed with the versatility of the Batten & Cradle Acoustic Flooring System and could see a number of ideal applications so we anticipate being in a position to help address these applications in the near future. Interestingly a representative from the Department of Building and Housing made the comment "At last B&C has finally arrived in NZ!" The inference being that B&C is recognised as a tried and tested system and it will enhance the building standards here in NZ. www.issa.acoustics.ac.nz
