While concrete floors provide a particularly modern look, for those who spend long hours standing or even living on concrete floors, reports have shown that mild to severe health issues can arise from the lack of shock absorption or deflection. As well as the concrete ‘coldness’ coming through any floor coverings. Staff who are expected to be on their feet for long durations would appreciate the qualities of Ergoflor (an ergonomic flooring system) as they would normally be affected by pain and aches from extended exposure to concrete substrates.
For areas such as gymnasiums, a certain measure of deflection is required to provide an ergonomic area for increased activity. Structurally, Ergoflor meets Australian and New Zealand standards, based on point load tests by structural and civil engineers.
B&C Ergoflor was installed last year at The University of Auckland in the Drama Suite. For uses of dramatic nature, Ergoflor provided the needed deflection and heel shock absorption for the dance and drama students.
